Incentives
to go solar

Most solar systems and other renewable energy projects in Oregon are eligible for a combination of utility rebates, state rebates, and a federal tax credit.

These incentives help offset the cost of the initial investment to install a solar system, which in turn shortens the amount of time required for your power bill savings to result in a net positive return on your solar investment.

Rebates & tax credits

The incentives you may qualify for depend on which utility’s territory your project will be built in. But nearly all Oregon projects will qualify for these two:

  • The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 included many tools to support residential, commercial, and institutional solar electric system investments. The most significant has been the extension of the 30 percent federal investment tax credit (FITC) for solar projects until 2032.
  • The Oregon Department of Energy runs the Oregon Solar + Storage Rebate Program (OSSRP), which makes up to $5,000 available per residential project. There is also additional money available for qualifying low-income service providers. We are an approved contractor with the Oregon Department of Energy, and can help you reserve a OSSRP solar incentive for your project.

Additionally, many Oregon utilities offer a rebate or incentive program to support solar or solar-and-storage installations.

Don’t assume that these programs will always be available. Each fiscal year, the agency responsible for an incentive can change the amount or discontinue a program. And the OSSRP and some utility rebates can run out of available funds in a given year.

Our team will help you decipher your eligibility for all incentives, but for now you can simply select your utility below to get an overview of what is likely available within your utility at this time.

Interested in Solar Pricing?

The best way to compare solar quotes is to look at the Price-Per-Watt. The Energy Trust of Oregon tracks this number weekly here. The current average is $4.67/Watt, before factoring rebates, incentives and tax credits. For grid-tied systems, Energy Design tends to offer a range of $2.75-3.75/Watt!

This form will give you a general idea of the amount you can expect to pay for the average PV solar system, 8.8kW (roughly 22 panels on a roof producing 10,000 kW hours a year), by factoring in specific rebates and incentives you may qualify for.
